What Are Dental Bridges?
Fixed Dental Bridges: Seamless and Durable Tooth Replacement
Fixed bridges are prosthetic devices used to fill the space created by one or two missing teeth. Unlike partial dentures, fixed bridges are permanently anchored into place. They rely on a pair of crowns that are anchored to the teeth on either side of the open space, with the false crowns connected between them. The overall look of your bridge is created in such a way that it blends in with your surrounding smile.
Dental bridges can be made from various materials, including porcelain, ceramic, metal alloys, or a combination of these. They're extremely durable and allow you to bite or chew like normal.
What to Expect at Your Dental Bridge Appointment
When you visit House of Dentistry for a dental bridge consultation, you can expect a comprehensive and personalized approach to your dental care. During your appointment, Dr. Kapadia will carefully examine your oral health and discuss your specific needs and concerns.
X-rays and digital scans may be taken to aid in the creation of your custom dental bridge.
The dental bridge placement typically involves two appointments. In the first appointment, the abutment teeth (the teeth on either side of the space) will be prepared similarly to a traditional crown treatment. Digital "impressions" or scans of your teeth will also be recorded for us to send to our laboratory, where skilled technicians will fabricate your custom prosthesis. A temporary restoration will be placed to protect your teeth until the final bridge is ready.
At your second appointment, the temporary prosthesis will be removed, and your new dental bridge will be carefully checked for its fit. Once Dr. Kapadia is satisfied with the outcome, the bridge will be bonded securely in place using a special dental cement.
